Ziziphus
Shrub or small tree native to Asia with thorny, flexible branches. Deciduous leaves are glossy green, oval, elongated or elliptical, 3–6 cm long. Yellow, modest flowers. Brown, edible fruits, oval, 2.5 cm, dark brown when ripe in summer. It also grows in dry and stony soils, where it takes on irregular shapes and grows more slowly. It tolerates fairly long droughts.
