Washingtonia robusta
Palm native to Mexico with an erect trunk, initially reddish-brown and then gray. The trunk is topped by a fan-shaped tuft of bright green leaves, longer than 1 meter, borne on serrated petioles, which form a covering of the trunk once the leaves wither. It blooms in summer with racemes of yellow-white flowers and fruits with black berries. It prefers alkaline soils and tolerates drought and sea exposure.
