Ulmus pumila 'Sapporo Autumn Gold' Standard

Deciduous tree with open crown, which droops with age. Bright green, oval leaves, 3-8 cm, with a faint red tint in spring, vivid green in summer, golden-yellow in autumn - colour intensity depends upon exposure and temperature. Reddish-purple, tightlybunched flowers appear in March before the leaves. Requires permeable soil, withstands heat, and sea winds. Considering its proven resistance to Dutch elm disease, this is the elm most-used currently for parks and urban avenues.
