Strelitzia nicolai Bush
Origin: South Africa. Perennial, evergreen, cespitose plant which forms clumps which look like Banana plants made up of large leaves (leathery, elongate, 1.50m long, 0.60cm wide, bottle green), on even longer, robust stalks (2m). Throughout the summer floral stalks appear at intervals, almost 50cm long, at the end of which there are very unusual, large flowers with white lanceolate sepals and pale blue petals.
