Skimmia japonica

Shrub with a compact crown, rigid oval evergreen leaves, green, fragrant, 8-12 cm long. Blooms in March-April with 5-8 cm racemes of white-pink flowers, followed by bright red berries. Requires fertile soils, from acidic to slightly alkaline. Used in rock gardens, shrub groups, and also grows well in pots and containers.
