Sciadopitys verticillata Ball

Origin: Japan. One of the original conifers, sometimes with more than one trunk, and a broadly conical or irregular shape. The long, evergreen, succulent, bright green needles, spread out in rays from the branches like a half-open umbrella, make this plant unusual. Requires fresh, moist, light, permeable soil from acid to neutral. Susceptible to drought.
