Sambucus nigra Bush

Large shrub or small deciduous tree, with flaky bark on branches and trunk, which contain a large amount of pale, soft pith. In April-May produces white flowers in corymbs, 15 cm broad, followed by clusters of black fruits, very attractive to birds. Hardy, adapts to all soils, though it prefers those rich in nitrogen.
