Salvia officinalis

Aromatic plant native to Southern Europe, widely used in cooking. Oval grey-silver fragrant leaves. Blooms in summer with upright racemes of tubular flowers 2.5 cm long, violet-red in color. Hardy but prefers dry soils; in cold climates, it needs winter protection.
