Robinia elliottii (R. boyontonii, R. hispida rosea)

Small tree or shrub native to the southeastern USA with a sparse and wide crown. Deciduous leaves about 20 cm long made up of bright green leaflets with a gray underside. Blooms in May-June with 15 cm clusters of large light pink flowers. Fruits are flat pods measuring 5-10 cm. Grows also in poor, dry soils and requires a windbreak due to its slender branches. Resistant to pollution and planted either alone or alongside shorter shrubs.
