Rhamnus alaternus
Shrub native to Crimea, Morocco, and Portugal with an ascending, spreading crown. Evergreen dark green, oval, hard leaves, 7 cm long. Blooms in late spring with axillary clusters of yellow-green flowers, then fruits immediately with fruits initially red, then black. Requires well-drained soils, drought and salt tolerant. Used in groups, hedges, and barriers.
