Prunus dulcis

Prunus dulcis reaches a height between 5 and 8 meters, while the crown can expand up to 7 meters; the trunk is dark gray, tending to split into small plates with age, and has dark green leaves, 10-12 cm long, oblong-lanceolate and finely serrated. The flowers have five petals and bloom from mid-February to March, showing shades ranging from white to pale pink; flowering occurs before leaf emergence. The fruits are green and velvety, and when mature tend to split and fall to the ground. For fresh consumption, harvesting is done early in June-July, while the other harvest takes place at the end of summer, with the opening of the hull and the fruit falling to the ground. Afterwards, the shells should be dried in a ventilated place to avoid mold.
