Prunus armenica

It is a medium-sized deciduous broadleaf plant, 5 to 7 meters tall, with some exceptions reaching 8.5 meters. The leaves are heart-shaped with a doubly serrated margin. The flowers have a calyx and a five-part corolla, are pinkish-white, solitary or paired. Flowering occurs, as in all Prunus species, before leafing. The fruits are velvety drupes of dark yellow to orange, with a tendency toward faded red in the ripest ones. As with all fruit trees, the unripe drupes are green, hard, and difficult to detach from the tree when not mature.
