Pistacia lentiscus

Shrub native to the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands with an initially upright crown that later becomes broad and rounded. Evergreen leaves formed by pairs of smooth, shiny leaflets, dark green on top and lighter green underneath. Inconspicuous flowers, very abundant fruits that are red when they appear and black at maturity in winter. Requires fairly rich soil, tolerates all types of pruning, and is used in arid areas and coastal zones.
