Pinus wallichiana (Pinus excelsa, Pinus griffithii), Pino dell Himalaya

Conifer native to the Himalayas with a pyramidal and sparse crown, gray-blue bark covered with bloom. Soft, pendulous silver needles, 10-20 cm long. Brown cones are cylindrical and 20-25 cm long. Hardy but prefers soils that are not compacted, moist, and non-calcareous. Sensitive to drought and strong winds, used as a solitary tree in parks and gardens.
