Pinus mugo 'Mughus'
Dwarf conifer native to the Alps with a wide, irregular crown, erect and angular branches. Bright green needles grouped in clusters, 4 cm long. Male flowers are yellow-orange and cluster at the base of new shoots; female flowers are reddish and terminal; both appear in May. Cones are small and brown. Grows in all ordinary soils, tolerates calcareous soil and urban pollution. Used alone or in groups in containers, planters, and rock gardens.
