Phormium tenax

Rhizomatous plant native to New Zealand. Elongated leaves gathered in tufts, dull red flowers that are not very decorative. Hardy, grows even in dry and sandy soils, very resistant to sea exposure, used in hedges and borders in seaside locations, as well as in pots and planters in homes and storefronts.
