Phormium
A rhizomatous plant native to New Zealand. It has elongated leaves gathered in tufts, with colors varying depending on the variety, and dull red flowers that are not very decorative. Hardy and able to grow in dry, sandy soils, it is highly resistant to sea air. It is used in hedges and borders in coastal areas, as well as in pots and planters in homes and storefronts.
