Persea americana (Persea gratissima)
Fruit tree native to Central and South America. Leaves are tough, dark green with a lighter underside, up to 20 cm long. It blooms in April-May with greenish flowers grouped in axillary racemes. Fruits soon after, producing pear-shaped fruits 10-20 cm long and 7-10 cm wide, with green skin and yellowish pulp. Grows well in warm areas of Italy, requires well-drained, rich, and neutral soils. Needs watering during the growing season.
