Parrotia

Tree native to Persia and the Caucasus, with an upright trunk and branching from the base, gray, scaly bark in mature specimens. The deciduous leaves are bright green with reddish spots on the edges in spring, and turn yellow, orange, and dark red in autumn. The flowers are gathered in crimson clusters, and the fruits are similar to walnuts. It grows best in slightly acidic, fresh soils and struggles in dry, compact soils due to its shallow roots. It is used alone or in groups in medium and large gardens and parks.
