Ostrya carpinifolia

Tree native to the Mediterranean Europe with an upright trunk and a compact, slightly conical crown. The deciduous leaves are elongated with spiny edges, dark green in color, 8-12 cm long. The flowers are gathered in hanging racemes and the fruits are cones formed by overlapping bracts. Hardy, it resists lime, fires, pollution, and drought, and is used in avenues and city parks.
