Metasequoia glyptostroboides

Conifer native to China with flaky brown bark and a conical crown. Deciduous soft leaves, spreading and bright green in spring, red-brown in autumn. The cones are small, round or cylindrical. It requires moist but not waterlogged soil and is used alone or in groups in parks and gardens, along avenues and near watercourses.
