Metasequoia
Conifer native to China with peeling brown bark and a conical crown. The soft, deciduous leaves are broad and bright green in spring, turning reddish-brown in autumn. The cones are small, round or cylindrical. It requires moist but well-drained soil and is used alone or in groups in parks and gardens, along avenues, and near waterways.
