Liriodendron

Tree native to North America, with an upright trunk branching from the ground. The lower branches curve and are sparse, and the bark is gray and rough. The deciduous leaves are dark green with a lighter underside; in autumn, they turn yellow-orange. The leaves are 10–20 cm long, have four lobes, and a truncated apex. Trees aged 6–8 years bloom from May to early July with tulip-like flowers composed of nine light green petals with orange veins; the flowers are numerous and fragrant. The fruits are 5–8 cm long, brown, with winged seeds. It requires rich, well-drained, neutral or acidic, deep, and cool soils. It is pollution-resistant but not tolerant of prolonged drought. It needs good exposure to achieve optimal flowering and has a strong root system, so it should be planted away from buildings. It is used in wide avenues, large gardens, or parks.
