Liquidambar styraciflua
Tree native to North America with an erect trunk branched from the base, a pyramidal and sparse crown, bark initially green and smooth, later gray and rough. Deciduous five-lobed pointed leaves, slightly serrated edges, long petioles, bright green in spring, yellow, orange, and red in autumn. Inconspicuous flowers, round green and brown fruits. Prefers deep, moist but well-drained soils, but also grows in dry or calcareous soils. Used alone or in groups, in avenues, and medium-sized gardens if managed with pruning.
