Liquidambar
Tree native to North America with an upright and branched trunk from the base, a pyramidal and sparse crown, initially smooth green bark, later gray and rough. Deciduous leaves are five-lobed and pointed, with slightly serrated edges, long petioles, bright green in spring, yellow, orange, and red in autumn. Flowers are inconspicuous, fruits are round, green and brown. Prefers deep, moist but not waterlogged soils, but also grows in dry or calcareous soils. Used alone or in groups, in avenues, in medium-sized gardens if managed with pruning.
