Koelreuteria paniculata Standard
Origin: China, Korea. Small deciduous tree which is admired for the elegant foliage, beautiful flowers and unusual fruit. Imparipinnate leaves, up to 40cm long, made up of numerous bright green leaflets; beautiful yellow and orange colours in autumn. Flowers in June-July, bright yellow, small and grouped in upright panicles 20-30cm long. Fruit: after flowering, similar to Chinese lanterns, initially green and then pink. No particular requirements as regards soil, also grows in calcareous soil.
