Juglans regia Standard
Origin: Greece, Bosnia, China. Impressive deciduous tree which forms a very spreading, round, open and bright crown. Straight, thick trunk; pale grey bark which is smooth when the plant is young and then rough and furrowed. Flowers: yellowish, weeping, very decorative catkins. The female flowers are green and form at the ends of year-oldbranches. Fruit: globular pseudodrupes containing a woody pericarp on the inside of which can be found the edible nuts. Grows well in all types of average soil, even topsoil, clay-calcareous. Does not like stagnating moisture and soil that is too dry. Does not tolerate pruning.
