Juglans regia

Tree native to Greece, Bosnia, and China with a broad, rounded crown, erect and sturdy trunk, gray bark initially smooth, then rough. It blooms with leaf emergence, male flowers grouped in light yellow pendulous panicles on two-year-old branches, while female flowers grow at the tips of one-year-old branches and are green. The fruits are common walnuts. It grows in all normal soils, including clay and calcareous, but suffers from stagnant moisture, dry soils, and pruning. It is planted in parks, large gardens, and along wide avenues.
