Juglans
A tree native to Greece, Bosnia, and China, with a broad, rounded crown, an upright and sturdy trunk, and grey bark that is smooth at first, then becomes rough with age. It flowers at the same time as leafing, with male flowers grouped in light yellow hanging panicles, found on two-year-old branches, while the female flowers appear at the tips of one-year-old branches and are green. The fruits are common walnuts. It grows in all normal soils, including clay and calcareous ones, but does not tolerate waterlogging, dry soils, or pruning. It is planted in parks, large gardens, and along wide avenues.
