Shrub native to Japan with an ascending, rounded crown. The leaves are oval, serrated at the edges, and green. It blooms from June to September with terminal flowers gathered in flat or globose clusters of 15–20 cm, varying in color depending on the variety. It requires abundant water, well-drained and acidic soils, little sunlight, minimal pruning, and few fertilizations. Despite the extensive root system, it can also be grown in pots.
