Eriobotrya japonica
Large shrub or small tree native to Japan with a rounded crown. The evergreen leaves are dark green with a reddish-brown underside, 12 to 15 cm long and 3-6 cm wide, and leathery. The flowers are white-yellowish, gathered in panicles that appear in autumn. The fruits mature in spring, are oval, 3-6 cm long, with light yellow skin, and are edible. It grows in all soils that are not too calcareous, requires a warm and sunny climate, is salt-tolerant and pruning-resistant. It is also grown in pots and can be used singly or in avenues in temperate climates.
