Elaeagnus

Genus that includes evergreen shrubs with an upright habit and dense foliage. The evergreen leaves are elongated oval, dark green with yellow variegation or brown spots in some varieties. The flowers are pale yellow, the fruits are grayish or red, edible, and similar to olives. It is used in seaside locations for its resistance to sea air, pollution, and pruning. This genus includes the Russian olive, or Oleaster.
