Edgeworthia chrystantha Bush
Origin: China. Suckering shrub with rounded habit, numerous upright, flexible branches. Deciduous, lanceolate leaves, 10-15cm long, dark green. Flowers: very precocious, the buds form as early as autumn and open out into small, funnel-shaped, very fragrant, creamy-yellow flowers clustered in globular heads. Requires well- drained soil, not calcareous. As a specimen plant or in groups it brings life and fragrance to the garden in the mild, early spring weather.
