Dicksonia antarctica Bush
Origin: Tasmania. Majestic, tree-fern formed by a strong, woody trunk thickly covered in brown hairs and small aerial roots and topped by a showy tuft of evergreen fronds up to 3m long, very bright green. In its own habitat it withstands frosty temperatures but in Italy a winter protection is recommended. Requires acid soil, rich in humus. The atmosphere must be constantly humid because dry air can dry out the aerial roots.
