Cryptomeria japonica 'Elegans'

Conifer with an ascending, conical crown and a rounded top, with dark red, peeling bark. The leaves are soft, blue-green in spring, dark red in winter, and up to 2.5 cm long. It requires fresh, fertile soil and humid climates sheltered from the wind, and is used as a solitary specimen or in groups with other conifers.
