Crataegus laevigata 'Paul's Scarlet'
Large shrub or small tree native to England with a crown initially conical, then rounded, with slightly spiny drooping lateral branches. The deciduous leaves are bright green, oval, tri- or five-lobed. The flowers are light red and bloom in April-May. The fruits are small, red, and not very abundant. It grows in all soils, is pollution-resistant, and is used in gardens and city avenues.
