Crataegus 'Carriere' (Crataegus x lavallei 'Carrierei')

Shrub or small tree native to France with a crown initially rounded, then dome-shaped, with spiny branches. The deciduous leaves are leathery, large, 5 to 15 cm, bright green in spring and yellow-orange in autumn. It blooms in April-May with white flowers, followed by large edible orange fruits. Grows best in calcareous, heavy, clay soils, resists pollution and drought, and is used as street planting in not too wide roads.
