Corylopsis
A small shrub native to Japan, with an expansive canopy and main branches that are upright, while the secondary ones are drooping. The deciduous leaves are oval with serrated edges, 6 to 8 cm long, initially dark red, then pink, green, and finally yellow in autumn. The flowers appear before the leaves, are pale yellow, and are gathered in clusters. It requires loose, non-calcareous soil rich in humus.
