Corylus avellana
Vigorous shrub or small tree with heart-shaped leaves with serrated edges, dioecious flowers on the same plant appearing in early spring in yellow catkins, before the leaves. The fruits are the famous hazelnuts, which ripen from mid-August to mid-November. It has no soil requirements and grows even in calcareous soils.
