Cornus mas
Originating from central Europe, it has an upright crown. The deciduous leaves are dark green in spring and dark red in autumn, oval-shaped. The flowers are gathered in umbels surrounded by 4 greenish bracts, appearing in February-March before the leaves, and are yellow in color. The fruits are oblong, hanging drupes, bright red, decorative and edible. It grows in all soils that are not too dry, tolerates pruning well, and is also used for hedges.
