Cordyline australis (Dracaena indivisa)

Evergreen tree native to New Zealand with a cylindrical trunk (sometimes more than one) covered by the petioles of dead leaves that previously covered it. The leaves are light green, drooping, about 1 meter long and up to 8 cm wide, with pointed tips. The flowers are gathered in panicles up to 1.20 meters long, remain on the plant from July to October, and are pale yellow or pale violet. Flowering occurs only on mature specimens, and after the first flowering, the trunk may branch into shoots that all end with leaves. It requires permeable and not too calcareous soils, is easily grown in pots, and is resistant to salt spray and limited indoor light (for a short time).
