Chitalpa tashkentensis 'Summer Bell's'
Large shrub or small tree native to North America, a hybrid between Catalpa and Chilopsis. It has green branches and leaves 20 to 30 cm long, bright green and very narrow. It blooms in June and July with pink flowers with a yellow throat striped with red, gathered in upright racemes. It blooms again in September, but less profusely. Requires permeable, deep soils and must be protected from winds. Can tolerate some pruning to limit growth.
