Chamaerops humilis Bush

Origin: Mediterranean basin. Unique Palm native to Europe, which is almost always a broad bush made up of more than one stem of different sizes, divaricated and topped by a tuft of rigid fan-shaped leaves. The stems are covered in a brown fibre and what is left of the leaf stalks that have fallen or been cut off. It rarely occurs as singlestemmed. Evergreen leaves, palmate, almost round, pale green on the upper side, covered in a whitish down on the underside. The leaves are borne by long, green stalks tinged in purple, with thorns on the edges. Yellow flowers in dense panicles from spring to summer. Fruit: groups of elliptic, brown berries on the female plants. No special requirements regarding type of soil as long as it is not stagnant.
