Cercis chinensis 'Avondale'

Small shrub or tree with a very dense crown. The deciduous leaves are rounded, glossy, very tough, up to 12 cm long, bright green in spring and yellow in autumn. It blooms before the leaves emerge, with clusters of pink and dark red flowers. It prefers calcareous soils but also adapts to slightly acidic ones. Often used in small to medium-sized gardens.
