Ceratonia

Large tree native to the Mediterranean regions with a sturdy trunk and wide crown. The leaves are tough, round, and dark green in color. It blooms in late winter with red male flowers and pink female flowers. The fruits are flattened, hanging pods measuring 10-20 cm, brown-purple when ripe, with sweet and edible pulp. It has no specific soil requirements.
