Cedrus deodara
Evergreen conifer native to Asia Minor and the Himalayas with a broad, very dense pyramidal crown, pendulous secondary branches, and a drooping top. The needles are 2 to 5 cm long and dark green. The male cones are dark red before releasing pollen and measure 5 to 12 cm, while the female cones are larger with a rounded apex. Prefers slightly acidic, moderately fertile soils, dislikes excessive moisture and frost (to be avoided in Central Europe).
