Castanea sativa

Large tree native to Eastern Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East, with a tall and spreading crown. The leaves are bright green in spring, yellow in autumn, elongated, 15-20 cm long, with serrated edges. Fragrant flowers appear in June-July, followed by fruits, chestnuts, ripening in October-November. Prefers cool mountain climates and acidic soils.
