Castanea

Large tree native to Eastern Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East, with a tall and broad crown. The leaves are bright green in spring and yellow in autumn, elongated and 15–20 cm long, with serrated edges. The fragrant flowers appear in June–July, followed by the fruits—chestnuts—ripening in October–November. It prefers cool mountain climates and acidic soils.
