Camellia
Most of the 250 species in the Camellia genus are native to China, the Himalayas, India, and East Asia. Camellia japonica is one of the most widespread; they are small trees with very hard, glossy evergreen leaves and highly ornamental flowers that appear from mid-autumn to spring. To grow well, they require acidic, fertile, moist, and well-drained soil. They do not tolerate frost, wind, or full sun.
