Butia capitata (Butia australis, Cocos australis)

Palm native to Brazil and Uruguay, with a thick trunk and drooping crown. The evergreen leaves have dark brown spiny petioles up to 1 meter long, are gray-blue with drooping tips, 1.5 to 2 meters long, composed of many leaflets. It blooms in summer with drooping racemes of light yellow color. The fruits are yellow-orange, oval-shaped, very numerous and edible. It requires permeable soil rich in humus.
